What is Thanksgiving in February?

HELP THE HUNGRY BY DINING OUT!

The King Farm Grill is a proud supporter of "Thanksgiving in February"
Every year for Thanksgiving in February close to 100 restaurants in Montgomery County, Maryland join together to support the hunger relief work of local nonprofit agencies by contributing a percentage of their sales. For over 20 years, Thanksgiving in February has helped to raise funds that feed our hungry neighbors. Say "I Do" to the Most Comfortable, Warm Hotel Stay for Your Guests

This past holiday season, I got 2 messages from friends that they just got engaged! Then I log onto my facebook page and lo and behold, so many people changed their status from single to engaged. Then my first  my Monday back to work, I received so many calls from giddy brides-to-be  inquiring about wedding space and blocks of room for their out of town  guests to visit them during their big day. I guess Santa had snuck quite a bit of diamond rings under chimneys this past season :)This is one of the most  fun part of hotel sales- helping her bride plan for her perfect day. Although the Sheraton Rockville's meeting space may be at tad bit too small to host a wedding party of 100 or more, we are still close to local wedding sites such ad Kentlands Mansion, Lakewood Country Club, Manor Country Club and more. Our hotel can be the perfect host for your out of town guests and bridal room to get ready in before the ceremony. Call the Sales Department for the best rates guaranteed.

Convert your SPG Points to Cash for Haiti and Starwood will Match Your Donation

In 2008 Haiti played victim to a string of hurrices and environmental degradation. This took 800 lives. Then in 2010, on January 12th this country was dealt a tragic card that made the disasters of 2008 miniscule compared to the 50,000 lost lives and countless homes in ruin. Everyone who has read the paper or turned on the TV know about the 6.5 magnitute earthquake that hit Haiti at five in the morning that day. The last earthquake that hit this country was 6.7 and 200 years ago. If there is a good that can ever come out of this disaster, it would be that it served as a catalyst for great humanitarian effort from different nations. History will note this as a  reminder that despite economical and poitical differences, cultures can come together for a greater good.
Some of us may not be able to share financially as much as we would like to the people of Haiti. There are other ways to be involved other than monetary donations such as giving blood, raising funds through online petitions, and if you are a Starwood Preferred Guest Member- donate your starpoints to Red Cross which will converted to cash. Starwood's SPG team will trade the points and facilitate the donation. SPG WILL MATCH ALL DONATIONS MADE BY FEBRUARY 15TH. For any questions, go to http://www.spg.com/ or call 888-625-4988. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti in this trying time.

At Sheraton Rockville you just don't stay here you belong!

A happy and peaceful 2010!

I know that 2009 was a challenging year in many parts of the world. Many felt vulnerable and worried on the spread of A H1N1 virus, global financial crisis, several political scandals and alike. 2010 may be as challenging as 2009….. if we don’t do anything. But we can do so many positive things and change the energy of the world.

I spent the latter part of the recent holiday in the Big Apple. There are several places to visit that will undoubtedly give enjoyment. Parties were everywhere and it never ran out of activities for all of the people in the city. Wonderful dinner locations and beautiful displays, all these I enjoyed with friends.

You can have the same experience with us this coming February. Valentine ’s Day is just a few weeks away. Whether you have a significant other or not, plan this next occasion with us. Just spend the day and enjoy your time. We guarantee to make your stay an experience to remember because at Sheraton YOU just don't stay YOU belong!

Rockville Counts Down to a Special Anniversary

Hello Sheraton fans!  Rockville is getting ready to celebrate its 150th anniversary! The town is all abuzz and the entire city staff, historians and longtime residents and business owners are getting ready to share their stories, recount history and bring together the entire Rockville community.

Rockville will mark its sesquicentennial – occurring every 150 years – anniversary as an incorporated city on March 10, 2010. The city received its incorporation from the state legislature on March 10, 1860.

The city has grown considerably since the community of farmers and shop owners it once was to the more urban community that is home to a growing biotech industry. But despite the burgeoning growth from a sleepy hamlet to a nationally recognized place to live, Rockville has worked to maintain its sense of community.

The City of Rockville is approximately 13 square miles and is made up of neighborhoods, rich in history and diversity. Rockville is known for its booming technology corridor along Interstate 270, as well as for providing amenities such as Town Center, F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and hundreds of acres of parks. With a population reaching upwards of 64,000 residents, Rockville is one of the largest cities in Maryland.

Here is a list of upcoming Rockville, Maryland events:

-Jan. 10 150th Photography Exhibit Opening Glenview Mansion 1:30-3:30 p.m.

-Jan. 10 - Feb. 2 150th Photography Exhibit Glenview Mansion Business Hours
